Deal includes WNFC rights for tackle football 2 games per week and inaugural flag football tournaments
Deal to run five seasons inclusive of 2024-2028
Deal is a development of previous arrangement which saw DAZN broadcast one game a week of tackle football
[DALLAS] April 17, 2024 – DAZN Group, the world’s leading global sports streaming platform, is set to extend broadcasting rights to the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) following the acquisition of non-exclusive international and domestic rights. Building on a partnership which saw DAZN broadcast a game a week of tackle football in the 2023 season, DAZN will be increasing their coverage to include more games and including coverage of the inaugural seasons of flag football.
After securing a five-year deal from 2024-2028, DAZN will air two WNFC tackle games per week and all women’s flag games for free globally over the next five seasons. Featuring 16 teams across the US, with players from 20+ countries, the WNFC has seen rapid growth since its inception in 2019. DAZN’s increased coverage and multi-year partnership with the WNFC represents its shared commitment to drive growth and commercial value for the sport globally.
"With women’s sport ratings reaching new heights, DAZN is expanding its coverage beyond its existing portfolio of premium women’s soccer rights which includes global UEFA Women’s Champions League rights. The WNFC is a perfect addition given the popularity of tackle football and the emergence of women’s flag football as an Olympic sport in 2028. - Esmeralda Negron, Co-CEO Women’s Sport for DAZN
All DAZN coverage of the WNFC will sit in DAZN’s Freemium environment, making it available to all fans globally at no cost. This follows the company’s move in January to create a dedicated free women’s sport vertical to build a larger and more engaged global audience. As such, fans of American Football will also have access to a portfolio of other free content including the UEFA Women’s Champion’s League, Liga F and the Google-Pixel Frauen Bundesliga alongside a wide range of content, services and products available to registered users at no cost.
"Football is for all. We are thrilled DAZN is as committed to accelerating access and equity for women’s football as we are. In partnership with DAZN, we have experienced unprecedented international reach, and look to continue bringing new levels of accessibility and awareness to the women’s game by offering games free and continuing to drive the movement forward". - Odessa Jenkins, CEO of the WNFC
For the upcoming WNFC season (Spring 2024) which kicked off last weekend, the deal will include two WNFC tackle matches per week, two WNFC tackle playoffs, two WNFC flag tournaments and the WNFC Championship Weekend.
"This deal represents an integrated rightsholder and broadcaster relationship where the WNFC and DAZN are collaborating across our respective distribution, marketing and commercial assets to accelerate audience growth and commercial value. We can’t wait to get going.Hannah Brown", Co-CEO Women’s Sport for DAZN
All 55 WNFC matches can also be streamed live on CaffeineTV streaming service. The service is available on your iOS device, Android, Roku, or your computer.
