Jersey Shore, NJ – [September 25, 2024] – The Jersey Shore Wave, the latest addition to the Women's National Football Conference (WNFC), is proud to announce the appointment of veteran football coach Fabian Alesandro as the team’s head coach, effective September 30, 2024. With over 20 years of coaching experience across New Jersey and New York, Alesandro brings knowledge and expertise to the Wave as they prepare for their inaugural season.
Fabian Alesandro has spent the past two decades coaching women’s tackle football holding key roles including Offensive Line Coach, Quarterback Coach, Wide Receiver Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Head Coach and leading his team to win three championship titles. His leadership on and off the field has earned him a reputation as a dedicated mentor and tactician in the football community. As the new head coach of the Jersey Shore Wave, Alesandro is set to guide the team toward success in the hyper-competitive WNFC league.
“We are thrilled to have Coach Alesandro lead the Jersey Shore Wave in our debut season,” said Dawn Sherman, owner of the Jersey Shore Wave. “His experience and commitment to developing the game of women’s football will be a tremendous asset to the team and the WNFC.”
In addition to his football coaching career, Alesandro has also served as a high school finance and accounting teacher at Tenafly Public Schools for the past 25 years. Originally from Rutherford, NJ, he attended Rowan University and remains deeply connected to the local community.
The Wave also announced that former NFL veteran Kristjan Sokoli, previously named as head coach, will stay on with the team in a crucial coaching advisory role. Sokoli’s experience and insights will continue to play an important part in shaping the team’s strategies and development.
The Jersey Shore Wave will kick off its inaugural season in April 2025, bringing the highest level of women's football to the region. Fans can expect a thrilling season as the team prepares to make waves in the WNFC under Alesandro’s leadership.
